The
C.P. Brown Academy was established in Hyderabad in 2007.
Having been established to promote resurgence of Telugu
language and culture, the Academy is most appropriately
named after the renowned Indologist C.P. Brown (1798-1884)
as a tribute to his legendary contribution towards
preservation and promotion of Telugu language and
literature. An advisory council with eminent litterateurs
has been constituted to help the academy in chalking out its
programs.

To
help create a learning infrastructure for the benefit of
Telugu children and help them understand, appreciate and
stay connected with their rich linguistic, literary and
cultural heritage.

To
consolidate the existing scholarship on classical and
contemporary literature in Telugu at a comprehensive
Resource Centre.

To
facilitate creation, publication and popularization of
literary works of excellence in Telugu.

To
launch a movement to develop and enrich the Telugu
language by using words liberally from other Indian and
Foreign languages.

Presentation
of "Telugu Bharathi Puraskaram" every year to a
person for outstanding life-time contribution to Telugu
language and literature. It carries a cash award of Rs.
2.50 lakh, a gold medal and a citation.
